Well this is it, the month the OUYA backers on Kickstarter have been waiting for. On the 28th of this month, everyone who donated at least $99 to the OUYA Kickstarter will receive their systems. Over the months, I have been looking at some of the games that have been shown. My first impressions were more optimistic then others, as a lot of the games shown were considered simple by today’s standards and dismissed as simple “phone games.” But that’s not what I saw; I saw change and innovation, with new ideas never explored or even attempted before. Needless to say, I am very excited for a good number of them to come out, so that I can get my hands on them!
Okay, back to the update. A lot of things were announced this time around, one being the addition of Kellee Santiago co-founder of thatgamecompany (the maker of Journey) to the OUYA team as lead of developer relations. She is a welcomed addition to the team, I must say.
Other announcements include several big companies either porting or making exclusive games for the system.
Kim Swift (Portal, Left 4 Dead, and Quantum Conundrum notoriety) and Airtight Games are developing a brand new, exclusive title for OUYA
Minority Media, developers of the critically acclaimed Papo & Yo, will deliver their in-development adventure puzzler to OUYA this fall
Tripwire Interactive (Killing Floor and Red Orchestra 2 notoriety) is bringing The Ball to OUYA in March
nWay to bring this beautiful new action-RPG to OUYA’s big screen TV experience, ChronoBlade.
This is all great news for fans and backers of the OUYA, and it looks like there will be more good news in the near future. As for us, you know that you can expect to get our first impressions on the console when it comes out.
